The primary goal of research in the Bonni laboratory is to understand how nerve cell connections are hardwired and operate in the brain and how the fundamental design and function of brain connections is disrupted in autism. Our research holds the promise of developing new drugs for the treatment of these devastating neurodevelopmental disorders of cognition.
Research in the Bonni laboratory has been generously supported by grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), private philanthropic foundations, pharmaceutical industry, and gifts. However, our research is expensive and as we delve deeper into the mechanisms of autism, greater support for this fundamentally important area of research is required. If you wish to support our research with a gift, please contact Dr. Azad Bonni.
